![]() Viewing Our Images For maximum enjoyment of our images, be sure you: 1. Set your display resolution to the correct size for the image. The photos on our site have been made over a three-year period, always using the best equipment available. Three years ago, most of our customers were using 15- or 17-inch monitors, and adapters that could display, at most, 1260x960 pixels at 24-bit color. At that time most customers set their displays at 800x600 or 1024x768, so we optimized our images for viewing at those resolutions. During the last year or so, large, high-resolution monitors and display adapters with large amounts of RAM have become less expensive and thus more common. Also, over half of our customers now have broadband Internet connections, making downloading large files feasible. Accordingly, we are now formatting our images for higher-resolution displays. Our images will look best when viewed at the correct display resolution for the image size. Recommended settings are:
2. Calibrate your monitor. Color management -- Our images are carefully color balanced. If your monitor and display adapter support color management, you should install the sRGB color profile (open your Display settings from the Windows Control Panel, click the Settings tab, then the "Advanced" button, and look for a Color Management tab). You may also wish to create a custom color profile with a calibration utility like WYSIWYG (you can download a free version of WYSIWYG HERE). Moire settings -- If moire controls are available on your monitor, adjust them (using the monitor's controls) so that straight lines, such as the borders of windows, are smooth and crisp. Enjoy!
